She Sells Lies
03:13
|
|||
Well they say that you’ve got some problems with authority
Well I’ve got some questions would you mind answering me
About everything that's been
And ever strong enough to hold
Your attentions for more than a minute
This song is getting old
So she sells lies
Down by the sea shore
And he gets high
Off of each one that he buys
A little bit more than the last time
He does his lines and waits and waits
And contemplates his crime
So he writes her some letters
From his apartment on the east coast
And she never responds just reads and rips
Becomes post office ghost
And each letter she rips commits a literary murder
Each implication far
Greater than its crime
And he wants to believe in
Everything he doesn’t see
But in his mind he knows it
In his mind he shows it
In his mind he knows
He knows it
So she sells lies
But now no more lies to him
The next gentleman to walk on by
Will swallow the hook
And troll on in
And each time that she tells a lie
And each time that she waves goodbye
And each time that she takes a look
Looking up from her tear stained books
But not before she combs her hair
While he washes her underwear
He knows, he knows
He knows, he knows
He knows it

Gardenside Lights
06:03
|
|||
Oh well the lights out in the garden
Shone on flowers in the night
Casting shadows like a tapestry
Over every rock in sight
But one flower it was missing
From the illuminance and glow
One flower on the outside
With nowhere left to go
In the morning gardeners came and went
And time, oh time they did spend
Casting dirt around with rakes
To cover up mistakes that they had made
We can’t expect to be farmers these days
Bright lights in the sky tonight
My delight
Won’t you show me how to dance
On the top of a bar
Tell me how’d we get this far
From the earth that reeks of depth and design
We were
Strangers in an open ocean
Falling with the tide
Friends lost lovers travelling
With arms outstretched and wide
We had no time to waste
To hesitate
We took the here for now
Replaced emptiness with common sense
That’s no sense anyhow
We loved
To talk about the past and only
Try to make it last
One more minute
More than we could both bare
Well it doesn’t matter now that anywhere
Is better off than here
So let's just run, run, run away
From the places we found dear
And sing sad slow melodies as lives carry on
We were
Strangers in an open ocean
Falling with the tide
Friends lost lovers travelling
With arms outstretched and wide
We had no time to waste
To hesitate
We took the here for now
Replaced emptiness with common sense
That’s no sense anyhow
We loved
To talk about the past and only
Try to make it last
One more minute
More than we could both bare
Well it doesn’t matter now that anywhere
Is better off than here
So let's just run, run, run away
From the places we found dear
And sing sad slow melodies as lives carry on
Well the lights out in the garden
Shone on flowers in the night
Casting shadows like a tapestry
Over every rock in sight
But one flower it was missing
From the illuminance and glow
One flower on the outside
With nowhere left to go in the morning
In the morning
We sang
Don’t take me down
To that place I know so well
It’s dark and it’s cold
It’s forsaken, it’s old
Don’t take me down
To that place I’m sorry well
I should start to scold
Routines in this mold
Well the lights out in the garden
Shone on flowers in the night
Casting shadows like a tapestry
Over every rock in sight
But one flower it was missing
From the illuminance and glow
One flower on the outside
With nowhere left to go
In the morning

Yellow Tent
04:46
|
|||
I’m not sure I like to camp
As much as everybody else
But I know I like the smell of you in the morning
And I’m not sure I know the dew
Quite as well as my shoes
That I always leave outside of the tent
Until the morning light
That hits us in the face
As you wake you’ll find your place
Inside this small world
What a beautiful opening
To a textbook story that
Tells the tale of hearts unknown
In the underworld it shines like stone does
In the night
When the moonlight hits it
Just right
Oh the light shines on
This yellow tent
That we’re stuck in
Through the rain
Until the morning comes and
Fills us up with
Joy and strength on four hours sleep
The humid air makes you feel like
You didn’t sleep at all
But still you wake
From dreams just like you did back home in your bed
You scratch your head you
You scratch your head, you scratch your head
A bit more everyday
And as others all arise around you
Conversations with red eyes
Like the fires that burnt
While we were getting drunk
Or maybe we were just getting high
On each others eyes and lives
The fires that burnt
Were red and flowing stacks of smoke
Into the sky
And I
I saw your eyes
Oh the light shines on
This yellow tent
That we’re stuck in
Through the rain
Until the morning comes and
Fills us up with
Joy and strength on four hours sleep
The humid air makes you feel like
You didn’t sleep at all
And I
I saw your eyes
I saw your eyes

Deathrow Window Seat
03:09
|
|||
Sitting in my basement
It’s a quarter to nine
The sun's shining through my blinds
I want to take a trip
But I’d die out too quick
I’d get sick and fade away
The realities of stop and go
Make me feel like I’m the bloke
You always thought didn’t know
Wrecked your last good day
Shout a hip-hooray
This is your fine day
Wake up the presses
Tell them brother you gotta help me out
The preacher's smiling
Saying brother it’s the way
But I know it’s not the only
Walking down the hallway
It’s just about time
I can’t walk in straight lines
I just want to sleep
Get some food to eat
And try to keep it down for an hour
The complexities of white on white
Force me to gather fright
And count my steps with tiles
They’re dragging me
This is the day to close my eyes
Wake up the presses tell
Tell them brother ya gotta help me out
The preacher's smiling
Saying brother it’s the way
But I know it’s not the only
So tie your hands
Behind your back
Get ready to have
A laugh attack
But not yet
Cuz they forgot which switch was which
Take a seat
And get ready to meet
The boy who’s staring down
At your feet and get back
To the place where you belong
Sitting in the clouds with my head held high
The sun's shining in my eyes

The Last
04:39
|
|||
Staring over shoulders
In suspended time
We all wait
To find a second chance
Every time you crossed that bridge
Where you kissed when you were six
Looking back toward the sky you wonder why
You’re crying at the beach
And you don’t know why
Your tears feel like ice upon your cheeks
You think they should
Feel more like rain
Because rain is all you feel when you’re so numb
This is the last story
I will write you
From a book that’s torn and frayed
And the bindings are all
Worn down to dust
It’s 6 AM
And I’m lying alone
Reading children’s storybooks
And I’m lost with you
The heart overlooks the wasteland in your soul
Devoid of purpose
An empty hole
Where exhausted woes spin around
Like tornadoes
Tornadoes that have fallen stray from their storms
This is the last story
I will write you
From a book that’s torn and frayed
And the bindings are all
Worn down to dust
It’s 6 AM and I’m lying alone
Reading children’s story books
And I’m
Lost with you
This is the last story
I will write you
From a book that’s torn and frayed
And the bindings are all
Worn down to dust
It’s 6 AM and I’m lying alone
Reading children’s story books
And I’m
Lost with you
It’s 6AM and I’m lying alone
Reading children’s story books
And I’m lost
